Engineering Technology (ENGT) is the hands-on application of science and engineering towards a wide range of real world problems. Engineering technology degrees and engineering degrees are similar, with a great deal of overlap between the two fields of study. Both degrees have a strong emphasis on math and science, with engineering technology classes incorporating a “hands-on” approach—to emphasize the application of engineering techniques, while engineering courses focus on the development of concepts—theory.
The Department of Engineering Technology at Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Kennesaw State University in Georgia offers two programs: Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
