Engineering technology is the hands-on application of science and engineering towards a wide range of real world problems. Engineering technology degrees and engineering degrees are similar, with a great deal of overlap between the two fields of study. Both degrees have a strong emphasis on math and science, with engineering technology classes incorporating a “hands-on” approach – to emphasize the application of engineering techniques, while engineering courses focus on the development of concepts – theory.
The Department of Engineering Technology at Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology – at Kennesaw State University in Georgia offers two programs: electrical engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology.
