Environmental Engineering Minor

The minor in Environmental Engineering is designed to provide students in engineering, science, and other majors with a comprehensive study of environmental issues and the skills necessary to solve problems associated with environmental pollution. Today, environmental concerns strongly influence many aspects of engineering practice. The curriculum is designed to provide students with

  1. a foundation to pursue a career in environmental engineering and
  2. an understanding of the environmental consequences of their designs.
    1. Apply mathematics, science and engineering principles in environmental engineering discipline;
    2. Design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data in environmental engineering field;
    3. Design a system, component or process to meet desired needs in environmental engineering;
    4. Identify, formulate and solve environmental engineering problems;
    5. Use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

Curriculum

Required Basic and Engineering Science and Mathematics Prerequisite Courses

Most of the engineering disciplines require these courses. Non-engineering students may have to take these courses before they can take the Environmental Engineering Breadth and Depth Courses.

    • CE 4371 - Environmental Engineering Laboratory

Required Environmental Engineering Depth Courses

  • Select any three (3) courses from the following:

    • CE 4343 - Solid Waste Engineering
    • CE 4353 - Air Pollution Control
    • CE 4363 - Environmental Engineering Chemistry
    • CE 4373 - Environmental Engineering Microbiology
    • CE 4383 - Sustainability for Engineers
    • CE 4708 - Hazardous Waste Engineering

Students are required to earn a grade of "C" or better in all courses required and electives.
